Folate and Hair Loss

Folate, or folic acid, is a water soluble B9 vitamin and is necessary for the production and maintenance of new cells as well as norepinephrine and seratonin.

Spinach, turnip greens, lettuces, sunflower seeds and some other fruits and vegetables offer a natural source of folic acid.

It is found in many hair restoration products probably for it's importance in the production of new cells or to balance and/or supplement other ingredients.

Folic acid deficiency may not only cause hair loss but graying hair, mouth ulcers and diarrhea.

This vitamin is also vital in other areas of health as the video below will attest to. Especially important for pregnant women.

If you suspect that you may have a folic acid deficiency, contact your health care professional. They should be able to administer the correct testing procedure in order to determine what your levels are.
